The Year of Plot Twists

My blog has been sorely neglected the past several months, and for that I am sorry. I have a healthy set of excuses, but the fact remains that I vanished from the blogging hemisphere.

It's been a wild ride since being evacuated out of Peru. I had intended to document the process of what reverse culture shock can look like, but our entire nation was thrust into it's own version of culture shock, and I didn't feel that I had more to add. The news was covering it. Social media platforms were covering it. Talk around the dinner table covered it. I didn't think my blog needed to cover it, too.

This year has birthed one plot twist after another, but on my end not all of them have been bad. I hope many of you can say the same.

This summer I started dating one of my best friends from high school. It was the best kind of plot twist! Maybe one day I'll share a little more of that story.

I didn't have a steady job this summer, which all told was exactly what my heart needed. I took advantage of my extra time to explore the outdoors of my favorite place on earth... HOME! This included a sunrise hike to a local peak, a couple different camping trips, Sabbath afternoon drives to Glacier National Park, and a bunch of other fun stuff. I almost satisfied my craving for the mountains. ALMOST.

I took advantage of quarantine to pursue a business venture that I've dreamed of since I was a little girl! I've always wanted to turn my creative outlet into a tiny handcraft shop, and I decided that this was the year to do it or it would never happen. If you follow me on social media you probably already know the details, BUT if you only follow me here consider this your official teaser for what I plan to debut in my next post. I'm really, really, totally, completely excited! Stay tuned!

In other news, I'm back at school now. It's been quite the quarter. Due to county COVID regulations only half of the student body was allowed to come back. Those of us who were lucky enough to make it back to campus still have the majority of our classes online. It's been a challenge. I've tried to focus on how thankful I am for the opportunity to learn despite complications, but that doesn't minimize the difficulties. It does however make them worth it!

As always, I seem to have a plethora of thoughts stuffed in my pocket. Some focus on the challenges. Many delight in the blessings. It's been a crazy several months, but I like to think I'm stronger because of them!
